February 5 - March 4, 2024 - Webinar Series - ZOOM

Sexual Health Series by Mama Glow is back! Get access to the sexual health education that you never received in school. In this five-part, weekly webinar series, you will be provided with a comprehensive overview of the most essential topics related to sexual health. Our goal is to equip you with this knowledge so that you are able to make more informed decisions about your bodies and your relationships. We further encourage you to “share the wealth” and educate your peers and members of your community with the information you have learned from this informative series.

WEEKLY SYLLABUS

These webinar lectures will take place virtually on zoom:

Mondays from 6-8pm ET, starting on February 5th.

Below is a brief overview of the format and structure of this series:

Lesson 1 (February 5th): Gender, Sex & Sexuality

What does it really mean when someone talks about sex and gender? This foundational lesson will give participants concrete definitions for these terms to discern their differences. Additionally, participants will develop greater awareness about how identities influence the way we view and express gender. Tips will be presented on how to start conversations between generations of family members about sexual health.

Lesson 2 (February 12th): Reproductive Anatomy & Physiology

This part does what?! This lesson gives an overview of the different reproductive organs for assigned males and females at birth, as well as their purposes. We learn that all bodies are different and that this difference is normal. The processes of puberty, menstruation, and menopause are also explained in depth.

Lesson 3 (February 19th): Pregnancy, Contraception & Abortion

The processes of fertilization and pregnancy are demystified in this lesson. Participants will be able to identify the signs and symptoms of pregnancy, as well as the different options people have once they become pregnant. Birth control methods and abortion are also covered in length.

Lesson 4 (February 26th): STIs, HIV & Stigma

This lesson provides the opportunity to reflect on how stigma influences the way society perceives sexually transmitted infections (STIs). While they may seem scary, STIs are common, treatable, and many are also curable. We also provide tips on how to communicate STI status with a sexual partner.

Lesson 5 (March 4th): Relationships, Communication & Pleasure

Humans develop different types of relationships throughout their life course as a way to experience pleasure and closeness. This lesson gives insight into the characteristics of relationships that make them (un)healthy. We delve into the concept of consent and how to communicate this with other people. Additionally, (inter)personal pleasure is discussed at length.
